ddHiFi CZ300 Large Capacity Transport Case – Retro Fashion Space
ddHiFi CZ300 is a $56 USD transport case, with multiple storage spaces, up to 14 main storage spaces for the base version, a high-end treated cotton on the inside to protect your IEMS from scratches, moisture and mildew, and with a hard cover on the outside to keep everything safe even if you were to step on the case. Today we will explore whether this case is a good purchase and for whom it would be best.
Introduction
ddHIFI is a brand popular across the world specializing in high-end audiophile accessories, including headphone stands, cables, connectors, adapters, and they even make their own headphones, namely the Janus 3, which we previously reviewed on Audiophile-Heaven. Build Quality/Aesthetics/Fit/Comfort
When reviewing a headphone transport case you first need to quantify whether you need it and what you need it for. As I see it, ddHifi cannot make a product for reviewers, yet for me this kind of transport cases is one of the best accessories I can ever ask for, since it allows for excellent compartment, would work well for camera equipment too and it is made of 16A Waterproof cotton canvas. This canvas has better anti moisture, anti mildew and anti bacterial properties, keeping your IEMS, DAPs, headphones and camera equipment safe and dry.
The texture on the inside of the case is soft, and protects all objects inside from scratches too. To expand on how much space you have, the compartment is split in a three-dimensional way, having an upper lid which gives you 4 spaces for cables and portable DAC/AMPs, and a compartment inside.
This compartment side has 8 short dividers and one long splitter on the middle, allowing for a total of 10 storage spaces, which you can resize in every way possible, as all of them are flexible and removable. You can even purchase extra partition strips, if you want to further modify how your CZ 300 works internally.
ddHiFi made the side walls out of resistant resin, much better for protecting the case from compression better than EVA or Cardboard filling, and the handle is riveted for better force bearing and to take away the pressure from the wall’s main body. To complement the good build so far, ddHIFI uses one-inch 7-needle stitching technology, and the case is sewn with tensile-resistant nylon thread. The swing thread is matched with the color of the fabric to make it invisible.
We have a two-way double slider metal zipper, to allow starting and zipping up to any position. The zipper slider of the CZ300 is equipped with a ddHifi custom drawstring for a noise-free use of the zipper. The case itself is well made and heavy and weights almost 800 grams. The external dimensions are 320 mm x 220 mm x 100 mm, while the inner size is 290 mm x 190 mm x 80 mm.
While it is undoubtedly weird for me to make such a long review for a case, I tend to transport many IEMs all at once for taking photos, and sometimes different products, so this ddHiFi CZ300 case has been truly helpful, having been the way I got the new Xenns Mangird Tea Pro, FiiO FH19, HIDIZS S8 PRO, and Soundz Flame to the photo site with zero scratches and without damage.
I still use this case daily, and consider it an essential equipment part for me, but I am not sure if it would make as much sense for someone who has fewer IEMs and Headphones, situation in Which ddHiFi has multiple other, smaller options for you to choose from, or you can also consider a Miter Transport case which does not have a handle or a zipper, but can work well for 4 IEMs or 4 IEMs and a DAP.
Value and Conclusion
With a price of 56 USD, the case is about in line with most ultra affordable camera case prices, and it has a much better value than most transport cases, as it is more reliable and looks better, feels better built and offers better protection during transport for all products, but it has no shoulder strap, which would allow me to replace my camera case with it. If ddHifi ever makes a camera case, I have a feeling it would be the best killer deal the world has ever seen for one.
At the end of the day, if your collection is growing but you want to keep it safe, during transport, or in storage at home, a case is a great idea, you can simply put some silica inside and will keep your IEMs, Headphones and equipment safe during transport, with no worry on your side, and for a pocket-friendly price too.
