Tronsmart Mirtune S100 Bluetooth Speaker – More Outdoor Shenanigans
Tronsmart Mirtune S100 is a $79 USD Outdoor / Public usage Bluetooth speaker, with a powerful sound and tubular build. Today we will explore the S100, how it stacks against the competition and whether it is a good option for those who are in the entry-level range and need a reliable boombox to entertain themselves and their friends.
Introduction
Tronsmart always brings us some of the most affordable, and most practical devices, S100 being just a culmination of their research on how to make the most ergonomic speaker with the most powerful sound. As an Amazon Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases, and using the purchase links in my reviews helps me maintain this website and Youtube Channel. Huge thanks to Tronsmart for providing the sample for this review, in exchange for my honest opinion.
PROs – An actually enjoyable sound and portable design that makes it convenient to carry the S100 on the street and to hold a portable party with your friends. Long battery life, high maximum loudness and good sonic quality make it a very good purchase, and the IPX rating knowing it won’t die even if a rain starts while you’re out and about.
Cons – At this price point, there are no cons to mention.

Build Quality / Aesthetics
Tronsmart Mirtune S100 is a lifestyle and fashionable bluetooth outdoors speaker with a 2.1 Channel configuration, and a powerful 50W Bass. The speaker setup employs a 30W Racetrack subwoofer and dual 10W weeters for the 2.1 sound we will be describing. The sound will also be kinda stereo, not fully mono, although the bass is kinda mono while midrange and treble is kinda stereo, especially if you’re sitting at the front of the speaker. Tronsmart employs their Sound Pulse technology, which is an EQ profile that makes the speaker sound more dynamic and engaging, and also more V-Shaped.
The rubber retractable handle is useful for transporting the S100 Speaker, and the maximum playtime is quoted to be 20 HBours, which seems fair, as it survived 8 hours of 70% volume usage with about 50% battery remaining in my tests. To keep it as worry-free as possible Tronsmart has an IPX7 waterproof rating for the S100, and it can even act as a Power bank to charge your smartphone, or iPhone. You can theoretically pair two S100 in a Stereo pair for a true stereo sound, and there are two LED rings on the sides if you want to have a bit of RGB flair, but I typically turn that off, as the whole speaker looks better in its stealthy mode, especially while outdoors. We have an Aux Input, MicroSD input, and even USB input, but most people will be using it via bluetooth, so this has been the main way I’ve been using the S100 during our tests.
There is a built-in microphone to take phone calls, and it takes 4 hours and a half to fully charge S100 from a completely dead state, the whole speaker having a low weight of 1.36 kg, enough to keep it portable and transportable all day long.
Usage / Placement
You can place S100 virtually anywhere, but it prefers sitting somewhere around you, with the frontal logo being pointed at you. Using it indoors will not improve the sound. It is not quite Stereo like Tronsmart H1 or Edifier Luna.
It actually sounds a bit better outdoors, as you can blast the volume louder, to bring the bass higher and create more impact, while indoors, the treble and midrange will overtake the bass quite easily and lead to a fairly mid centric, harsh and fatiguing sound.
Sound Quality
Overall Signature – You can expect a fairly detailed, engaging and clear sound with a strong treble, sweet midrange, and strong impact, although it rolls off quite early in the bass, rendering a sound that’s on the thinner side, with the roll-off point being above 60 Hz, so there’s not a lot of sub bass to talk about. The sound is much better if you play it loud, and S100 struggles to play nicely at low volumes. Even if you use the minimum volume on your phone, set the speaker to max, it just sounds so much better. You can always hear a bit of background hissing and noise, but usually music is far louder than it, and you don’t have to worry about it.
Bass – The bass is usually the talk of the town with those bluetooth speakers, but S100 is a unique situation where they have very little bass, and as the bass starts above 60 Hz, you will mainly hear a lot of punch above that, warmth and bloom in music, but impact will be fairly sparse. You can feel the woofer radiators on the sides move, but it is not quite enough to produce bass, unless you bring the sound really loud.
Midrange – Midrange is sweet and has impressive resolution / details, and while portable bluetooth speakers don’t fancy so much detail, S100 is extremely detailed, up to audiophile levels. It offers excellent layering and instrument separation, sounding cohesive and sweet, presenting a lot of background information and revealing details that even full-sized speakers around 200 USD will just gloss over.
Treble – Treble is smooth and clean, especially if you set the speaker loud, as if you set it low, the whole sound is stressed and harsh, while if you set the speaker volume at max, and use the smartphone alone to control the volume, the treble is smoother, fuller and more refined, especially in relation to the bass and the midrange.
Dynamics – Sound of the Tronsmart S100 is incredibly dynamic and punchy, colourful and vivid. I took the speaker outdoors while travelling with my friends, and at max volume it was one of the most dynamic and detailed mini speakers I could have dreamed of, just an excellent overall performance.
PRaT / Textures – Texture is smooth, thick and bloomy, and regardless of the high detail, you will get a woolly texture for most instruments, if you set the speaker to max volume. At lower volumes, texture is quite sharp and harsh, edgy even.
Volume Control – I think that S100 has the poor volume control as its main minus, you literally cannot set the volume on the speaker to anything but max, as the sound is very stressed and compressed otherwise, and the speaker does not like being set lower than max at all. Also, it sounds much better, very loud in general, it does not handle low volumes well, but has excellent maximum volume, being able to be louder than the traffic in Bucharest, and be enough for a party of 5 people who travel together.
Soundstage – Although there are two tweeters and the sound is not mono, it is very narrow and you cannot replace using two speakers with just one. You can connect two for them to play in stereo, which I even recommend doing, but with just one, it is more of an old radio – kinda mono – kinda stereo type of bluetooth speaker sound. Very good for casual loud listening, like a mono guitar AMP is great, but two will make the stage much better.
Value and Conclusion
From a value perspective, the price of S100 is very low, and it offers a superb performance for the money pair, it is an excellent little Bluetooth speaker with excellent details and resolution, plus a huge maximum soundstage, so we can overlook its shortcomings a bit.
At the end of the day, S100 is a fully recommended purchase, if you want a detailed, crisp and clean sounding speaker. It is not for those who want a perfect sound, nor for those who want a deep bass, and if you fancy soundstage, better grab two and pair them in stereo.
