LavriCable Grand Silver V2 Line Headphone Cable – Dynamics And Color Revealer

LavriCable Grand Silver V2 Line Headphone Cable – Dynamics And Color Revealer

LavriCable Grand Silver is a $610 USD / 569 Euro cable designed for high-end headphones, with a Multistrand litz 6N AWG20 Cryo (4 cores)internal design, transparent color, LavriCables 3.5mm gold connectors at the 3.5mm end, and with the Lavricables Carbon Y Spliiter, and no Silk Sleeving, coming in 2 meters of length. The variant you can purchase is fully customisable with multiple plugs and terminations available, but as we will explore today, LavriCables also offers high-end pigtail adapters so you can adapt their cables for other headphones, including 3.5mm to DCA or Dan Clark Audio, 3.5mm to mini XLR, and any other combination you can think of and require. Today we will review the LavriCable Grand Silver V2 line of headphone cables and compare the variant we have in for review with other cables, including LavriCables Master Silver (544 USD) and Eletech Inferno (750 USD).

Introduction

Today we review the flagship, the best cable that LavriCable ever created, namely the Grand Line of cables, having a starting price point of 610 USD for the length and configuration we made and being pricier for longer configurations, or the 8-Core configuration, or less pricey for a shorter configuration. We will also explore the pigtail adapters which have allowed us to use the Grand Silver V2 with a multi selection of headphones. As an Amazon Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases, and using the purchase links in my reviews helps me maintain this website and Youtube Channel. Hue thanks to LavriCable for providing the sample for this review, in exchange for my honest opinion.

PROs – Beautiful looks, ergonomic build, excellent sonic performance with a wide and holographic soundstage, airy sound, a brilliant, sharp but not fatiguing treble, and a colorful, clean midrange with excellent dynamic. Can be fully customized including ordering a pigtail adapter for multiple headphones, in the same Grand Silver build with no loss of quality if using those adapters.

Cons – Pricey if you go for the 8 Core version.

Build Quality / Aesthetics

Grand silver is a line of thicker and more dense than usual cables, having multiple variants with options for DCA, mini-XLR, and HIFIMAN 3.5mm. The design of the Grand Silver is a perfect fit for HIFIMAN He1000SE, HIFIMAN HE6SE, but it will fit HIFIMAN Susvara and other headphones too just fine.

LavriCables Grand Line Silver can come in two larger variations, one with 4 Cores and one with 8 Cores, both being named MultiStrand Litz 6N awg20 cryo. Today we review the 4 Cores version, with hopes to also have the opportunity to review the 8 Cores version too in the future.

As with all high-end aftermarket cables, you can fully customize the Grand Silver cable for multiple connectors at the source side, including 6.3mm, XLR Balanced, 3.5mm, 4.4mm and all of those form multiple brands and materials. The Y Splitter can also be either transparent or LavriCable branded, and you can even ask for your Grand Silver to come with a silk sleeving, while the headphone plugs / jacks can also be anything you want.

Although the version we review today has been designed for HIFIMAN, with a 3.5mm connector at the headphone side, you can order the Grand Silver with multiple versions of this 3.5mm connector, and then you can even order this cable for basically any other headphone, including Dan Clark Audio, Audeze mini xLR, and basically any other connector.

Subjective Usage / Comfort

LavriCables Grand Silver is a high-end cable with a flexible build, slightly loose braiding and it feels very comfortable during usage, having the ability to cancel most handling noise effectively, and being quite excellent when it comes to actually feeling nice while being worn.

I typically would recommend a slightly longer version than you physically need, to allow yourself the comfort of sitting at the computer and not having the headphones pulled from your head when you adjust your position.

Sound Quality

Overall Signature – To explore the tuning and the signature of the LavriCables Grand Silver V2 I have paired it with a wide collection of headphones including HIFIMAN HE1000SE, HIFIMAN Arya Organic, HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled, Miprh-1, DCA Dan Clark Audio Expanse, Audeze LCD-5, Audeze LCD-XC, and even Erzetich Mania.

All of those headphones can be connected either directly with the 3.5mm jack connectors, as this cable was made for HIFIMAN Headphones, or using pigtail adapters. I have managed to hold out on finishing the review long enough to actually pair the Grand Silver V2 with HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled for a long period of time, as the highly revealing sound of the Sus Unveiled can easily reveal what each cable sounds like.

The general tuning and signature of the Lavri Grand Silver V2 is transparent, slightly bright, detailed and crisp. This is a cable that renders music as it is, but reveals information really nicely, with zero coloration, whilst being as detailed, fast, and transparent as possible. The soundstage when using the Grand Silver V2 is expansive, both in the lateral and vertical planes, with a strong instrument separation and definition. Punchy and vivid, Grand Silver V2 has the most definition and impact out of all Lavri cables I reviewed to date.

Bass – Starting with the low-end, Grand Silver V2 sounds punchy, fast and keeps up with rock, metal and aggressive EDM really well, without coloring the bass with too much weight / warmth, it is very transparent and quick. There’s a sense of nuance and strength, but the bass quantity is neutral / linear and uncolored.

Midrange – At the level of the voices and instrument information is where the magic of the Grand Silver V2 Happens, as it brings color, life and emotion into every instrument and voice, but also defines them, helps with the separation and refinement of each instrument. The character of the Grand silver V2 is rich, colorful and vivid, it is a cable that reveals all the micro details and information available in music, giving male voices strength, punch and a coarse, serious presentation, but also sweetness and brattiness to female voices. The midrange of the Grand silver V2 sounds superb, it brings the guitars of rock and metal songs slightly more forward, giving them more volume and presence, more energy and life. It is a slightly forward and aggro sounding cable for sure, and not a laid back or boring one.

Treble – With a bright, brilliant and airy treble, Grand Silver V2 will never miss any cymbal crash or amount of information in the high-end of your songs. The extension of all headphones paired with the Grand silver V2 is improved, they all sound brighter and more open, more airy and much more energetic. This works really well for most headphones, including HIFIMAN susvara unveiled, Erzetich Mania, Dan Clark Expanse and even HIFIMAN He1000SE. The only headphone where the signature did not work as well was Audeze LCD-XC as it is already very bright, although I still like what Grand silver V2 does to the midrange and textures of the LCD-XC

Dynamics / PRaT / Textures – I hear a very clear character for Grand Silver V2, it is a cable that emphasizes the dynamic feeling of each song, and it refines the textures without killing them, basically it can take away the grain, but will still present the whole detail of each song. There’s an important distinction here, because usually if a cable smooths the textures, it can smear the details, like a basic filter, but there are also cables like Grand silver V2 that can act more like an advanced filter, removing grain and improving the cohesiveness of each instrument and texture, all while revealing more details in the process. Overall, I feel all listeners will feel like the effect Grand Silver V2 has on music will be a huge improvement.

Soundstage – Grand silver V2 is a wide sounding cable that increases the soundstage, expands it in both the lateral plane and the vertical plane, it creates more space between instruments and increases the volume of each instrument, making music seem more holographic, larger and it increases instrument separation significantly.

Comparisons

LavriCables Grand Silver vs Eletech Inferno (610 USD vs 750 USD) – Although both are headphone cables, and I could test both with the same headphones thanks to the LAvriCable adapters, I would say that Grand Silver is far more flexible and more practical than the Inferno, but Inferno has a really thick gauge and looks far more impressive and dominant in person. Grand silver is made of Silver while Inferno is made of Copper, each having a sound that’s characteristic not just of the material used in the build but also of the topology used, so Inferno sounds a bit thicker, lusher and warmer while Grand Silver sounds more expansive, reveals details more in the midrange and the treble, and keeps the bass a bit more under control, while Inferno reveals moire information in the bass and low-end, but has a smoother, more relaxed sound in the upper midrange and treble.

Both cables create a wide and holographic soundstage, but Eletech Inferno goes deeper, while Grand Silver projects music farther away laterally and has a better instrument separation and a more holographic presentation. In theory, if you could bear the weight, and thickness of the inferno, it is more of a relaxed sounding basshead cable, while Grand Silver is more of a flexible, practical cable with a beautiful sound and a brighter, more revealing, brilliant and more dynamic sound, but more neutral and airier presentation.

LavriCables Grand Silver vs LavriCables Master Silver (610 USD vs 544 USD) – From a build perspective alone, Master Silver is a thinner cable, but made in the same excellent LavriCable quality, with a reliable soldering and braiding, all Lavricables I had to date having resisted the test of time, and also having been in daily use.

The sound of the grand silver is much more dynamic, more detailed and more revealing, but it follows a very similar tuning and signature compared to the Master Silver, both cables sound brilliant in the treble, bright in the midrange, and more neutral in the bass, although Grand Silver creates and renders far more bass depth, impact and punch, while Master Silver is airier and lighter in the sound. Both are excellent choices, but I would grab the Grand Silver if the budget allows, it is not much pricier but it is quite a bit more detailed, dynamic and punchier.

Value and Conclusion

LavriCable always delivers, and while we are in the territory of high-end cables, I like the packaging as well as the reliability of Lavri, the best part of the offer of this company being the excellent support, and you can even order pigtail adapters for multiple headphones, which I find a blast since I do use those and have been using the Grand Silver with multiple headphones.

At the end of the day, I love listening to HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled, Erzetich Mania, Dan Clark Audio Expanse, Mirph-1 and other headphones using the LavriCables Grand Silver, so it is a fully recommended purchase and a cable I can vouch for sonically.
