Tronsmart Mirtune H1 Lightweight HiFi Bluetooth Speaker – Compact And Practical

Tronsmart Mirtune H1 Lightweight HiFi Bluetooth Speaker – Compact And Practical

Tronsmart Mirtune H1 is a 25 USD Bluetooth speaker designed for trips and adventures, with a carabiner attachment to clip to your backpack, and today is the first time we’re reviewing two bluetooth speakers at once (50 USD), to explore how well the new H1 handles a dual connection and if it actually works.

Introduction

Tronsmart insist on creating cheaper and cheaper products, and at this point it ain’t just affordable, but at 25 USD it is downright cheap, and for a mini bluetooth speaker, H1 has a competitive price even when compared to no-brand supermarket bluetooth speakers, so it will be interesting to see how it actually sounds like. As an Amazon Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases, and using the purchase links in my reviews helps me maintain this website and Youtube Channel. Huge thanks to Tronsmart for providing the sample for this review, in exchange for my honest opinion.

PROs – If you purchase two, the experience is excellent, Battery life is excellent, stereo, wide sound, with strong TWS protocol. The midrange is detailed and fun to listen to, the treble extends well up to 12 kHz, and the whole presentation is consistent even if the speaker is facing away from you, and just in your general area.

Cons – Bass rolls off below 80 Hz, the speaker struggles with bass-heavy music. No aptX or LDAC protocols.

Build Quality / Aesthetics

Although as a reviewer, it can feel at times like reviewing this level of product can steal my time from focusing on more useful products, Tronsmart promised that the H1 is fully worth my time and attention, and this is a mini speaker that can be attached to anything using the Carabinier on the top, and has a Built-In Microphone, 20 Hours of battery life and takes 2.6 hours to charge. The battery life will be lower if you’re using loud volumes, but overall you can expect over 10 hours of battery life even if using the H1 at maximum.

Tronsmart H1 weights around 291 grams for each speaker, and I am reviewing the stereo pair, which rounds up to almost 600 grams to take those portably. The main way to use it is Wireless via Bluetooth, and you can only use AAC and SBC protocols, and the Tronsmart app will be needed to use even just one of the speakers. This being said, the app is non-intrusive and works wonders. To pair the speakers in stereo, you just go into the app, select stereo pairing, and the speakers are connected automatically, as long as both are turned on and in the same room. I have not had something work so well for a long time.

The power button is at the top, where I could barely find it, and that is where the bluetooth pairing button can be found as well. The Tronsmart app allows you to use different EQ profiles, but honestly the only two that are useful are Default and Sound Pulse, as default sounds more balanced, and Sound Pulse has that specific Chifi sound with an enhanced bass and a bright treble, but can be dynamic and enjoyable for most listeners.

The speakers work very well, the software works well, and the connection is reliable, as I experienced no dropouts and no issues throughout all my usage. The Mirtune H1 will resume in stereo mode if both speakers are turned on and you reconnect bluetooth after they have been turned off, but they will work mono too without an issue. The microphone quality for taking calls is decent, muffled but does not pick up that much background noise. Even if speaking with the speaker to your mouth, the sound can be rather muffled for the person on the other end, but they will understand what you’re saying without harshness.

Usage / Placement

The nice part about the Tronsmart Mirtune H1 is that they can be placed off-axis, even not pointing at you, not pointing at anything, and the sound will be very consistent. There is no large difference in the sound, except maybe if you hold each in one hand and keep them at the ear level, at around 50 cm away from your head, but honestly I don’t see this as the usage scenario for most people.

You can totally keep the H1 hooked to a backpack and get a super pleasing sound, although I urge you to purchase two of them, the stereo sound is infinitely better than using just one. While you genuinely won’t be holding a party with two mini speakers, they can get extremely loud, up to 110 dB, 1 meter away from them, in an open space, enogh to cancel traffic and city noise, if you want to play them on the street and create a sonic pollution higher than the one already present.

Sound Quality

Overall Signature – The sound is sharp, bright and fairly detailed, and if you get two of those H1, you get a pretty engaging stereo sound with good resolution and a dynamic, engaging signature. There’s a good amount of space between instruments. The signature works best for pop and music engineered for radio, including commercial pop, it will have a forward voicing and clean lyrics with good synthetic instrument rendering, and struggle with guitars in metal and won’t reproduce the depth needed for jazz and classical.

Bass – With a low-end that starts at around 80 Hz, you can’t speak of bass or sub-bass, but the sound still has a good amount of warmth starting with about 80 Hz, with a fairly lush and slow bass that fills in the space where sub-bass and deep impact should be. For rap music, you really need a bigger speaker like Tronsmart Bang Max

Midrange – Most of the presence is in the midrange, where Tronsmart Mirtune H1 has a sweet sound, good instrument separation and fairly good detail. The sound is slightly happy-tuned, female voices sound emotional and colourful, while male voices lack depth and strength, so female-led pop sounds best when played through the Mirtune H1. This includes everything starting with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Takanashi Kiara and Mori Calliope. Tronsmart Bang Max is much better for male-led pop and for most music, but it is far larger and heavier. The midrange sounds recessed and less energetic, less emotional in Natural mode compared to Sound Pulse.

Treble – Despite the mini size, and entry-level price, Mirtune H1 has a fairly good treble extension up to about 12 kHz with a sharp, bright treble. You can hear certain cymbal crashes and they sound fairly metallic, although the treble can be a bit harsh at times. Using Natural instead of Sound Pulse results in a fairly extended but relaxed treble, better than Sound Pulse.

Dynamics / PRaT / Textures – The impulse response is slow in the bass, and fast in the midrange and the treble, with a bit of grain in both the treble and the midrange. There’s a good sense of speed and resolution, textures come off as Natural in the default mode, and harsh / too edgy in the Sound Pulse Mode.

Volume Control – The sound changes a bit with volume, it is smoother and relaxed at lower volumes, and sharper, more edgy at higher volumes. There’s a sense of distortion with any song that is bass-heavy, as the driver struggles to produce some kind of bass, but the overall experience is generally good. Metallica and old metallic in particular sounds good at any volume, and so does most female led pop, but dubstep, rap and EDM is not ideal.

Soundstage – If you have just one speaker, the sound is mono and very congested, but if you get two, they feed off a TWS protocol, so they sound stereo, spacious and fun, fully recommended for a vivid, engaging experience.

Value and Conclusion

Even if you’re buying two, the complete set is far more affordable at 50 USD than most wireless speakers, and the sound will be better than anything you can find off-brand and in a supermarket store. I don’t know of a more portable and better sounding bluetooth speaker, and the H1 is water resistant and pressure resistant, it won’t break easily, and will sound good even if they are just an accessory holding onto your backpack.

At the end of the day, with excellent value, an engaging stereo sound and a solid build quality, Tronsmart Mirtune H1 is a great purchase and an excellent mini speaker for anyone who wants stereo sound on the go.

We listened to more songs than those named in this playlist, but those are excellent for identifying a sonic signature.  I recommend trying most of the songs from this playlist, especially if you’re searching for new music!
